Tim DeBoom Talks About Winning the Norseman Xtreme Triathlon

Tim DeBoom, two time Ironman world champion, won this year’s Noresman Xtreme Triathlon in 11 hours 18 minutes 47 seconds. Norseman is the world’s toughest long-distance distance triathlon. It starts in a fjord and finishes atop Gaustatoppen mountain at 1,850 meters above sea level. Total ascent is 5,000 meters. The water temperature is normally about 15.5 degrees C, and the air temperature normally ranges from 6 to 28 degrees C through the race day. Upon returning to Boulder, DeBoom sat down with Colorado Triathlete's Kristen McFarland to talk about the experience.

Brad Zoller, Kelley Cullen Win XTERRA Indian Peaks

Brad Zoller of Avon improved his placing just one spot over last year’s XTERRA Indian Peaks, but that’s all he needed.  After finishing in the runner-spot last year, Zoller took control early in this year’s race and didn’t relent until he crossed the finish line in 1:47:21.  John Klish of Eagle placed second in 1:53:12, and Llewellyn Holmes placed third in 1:53:45.  In the women’s race, Kelley Cullen of New Castle broke the two-hour mark with her winning time of 1:57:12.  Last year’s champion, Boulder’s Sara Tarkington, took second in 2:01:42.  Luisa Bryce of Denver rounded out the podium with her time of 2:08:07.

Colorado's Rising Long Course Triathlon Star

Rising long course triathlon star, Ben Hoffman, sits down with Colorado Triathlete’s Kristen McFarland after this year’s Ironman Lake Placid. Hoffman finished second this year at Lake Placid in a competitive race with T.J. Tollakson. Hoffman won Lake Placid in 2010, along with the Branson Ironman 70.3. Thus far in 2011, he has claimed victories at the Boise Ironman 70.3 as well as the Muncie Ironman 70.3.

Long Course Triathlete Discusses his Progression in the Sport

Tim O'Donnell's progression in triathlon has been nothing less than extraordinary. Since the time he moved to Colorado Springs in 2008 to join the National Team he has been a silver medalist at the Pan Am Games and two U.S. Pro Championships, and won the Boulder Peak Triathlon twice. Moving to longer distances, he has won four half-Ironman races including the 2010 70.3 Pro Championship. At the 2010 ITU Long Course World Championship—roughly three quarters the distance of an Ironman with the full swim—he finished second. Now he is taking on the full Ironman distance and managed a  second place finish in a stacked field at the Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas on May 21st. Tim talked to Colorado Triathlete  about his career and his debut Ironman in Texas.

The Fairview High School graduate attended the University of Iowa on a swimming scholarship before he turned his attention to triathlon racing. After finishing seventh at last year's St. Anthony’s Triathlon, the 26-year-old Dye captured his first major title at the race this year, finishing in 1:48:44.
